I grew so much in this department, because of the “out-of-the-box” things the Lord had her to tell me to do. I’ve done administrative work for years and have done a variety of things but this was different. Anything from meeting minutes, letters, documents, forms, and the conference agenda was styled completely different.
So fast forwarding to the conference. Around February 26th 2013 my husband’s job was possibly not going to allow him to take the leave he had already scheduled to care for our 3 young children while I would be at the conference since I’m a stay-at-home-mom. I called Evangelist Burke and she said, “Girl I don’t receive that at all, you’re coming in Jesus name, it’s just time to pray.” That is exactly what I did, and God like usual made a way.
The conference finally arrived, and I say finally because I was blessed to be a part of the process from its inception. I was so excited to meet the women we had connected with over the phone via teleconference for months; from the conference staff to the conference speakers. Women were traveling from all over the United States to meet…God! Because God is so faithful, and more than 2-3 were gathered in His name…He Sho’ Nuff was in da midst (sorry only Ebonics was appropriate for that part, lol)! Any woman to include yours truly who came with any other expectations, was pleasantly surprised, and liberated if she allowed God to do what He came there to do…set the captives free! Some women were truly expecting a great move of God. Others came to get a break from normal life because their friend or family member begged them to, and if on staff in some capacity others of us just came to “work”.
From the start of the conference on Thursday evening, until the finish I was blessed and liberated! Because I had to work during the conference I did not get a chance to sit in on the “wordshop” sessions, but so many women were blessed and raved about Sister Joy McMillan, Sister Paula Robinson, Sister Angela Pittman, and Pastor Connie Colbert. The general sessions I sat in on, allowed me to be armed with three powerful tools.
1) God used this small powerhouse named Sister Marylou Martinez to speak to me about my worth. This is an area I’ve struggled with since my childhood. I didn’t get the affirmation I needed at times, and I spent many years trying to please critical and insecure people which became fruitless.
2) Next, God used this mega teacher, Pastor La’Tresa Jester to tell me to serve an eviction notice to this stronghold in my life. She told us to tell the enemy regardless of the area of hindrance, “Devil you’re in trouble!” I can still hear her saying that. It is said like a child tattling on another child with pure conviction, and when I think about it I say, “oooooooohhhhhh devil you’re in trouble.”
3) Next, God used this mighty warrior of God, Apostle Moore twice during the conference to remind me of who He was. Our 6:00 am prayer, which I was upset I had to leave to go work, and the last general session. Her ministry reminds me of a buffet, there’s something for everybody. My take-a-way is: knowing my worth+pulling down the stronghold+constantly remembering who God is = FREE INDEAD!!!
Praise and worship was “off da chain” (sorry more Ebonics), and was the time to shake the shackles off and Praise the Almighty for His goodness and mercy. That’s what I did, and was reminded to stop relying on myself, but rely wholeheartedly on God; I don’t have all the answers, but my God does; I’m not perfect, but my God is, and I’m limited, but my God is limitless. Talk about taking the pressure off!!! Thank you Lord for allowing me to be a part of this ministry, thank you to my sister and friend Evangelist Burke for not allowing adversity to stop you, and persevering in your obedience to what God told you to do. God used you through the ministry of this conference to set many women free. I’m so proud of you, and love you always! Thank you Code Blue Ministry Team for working with me, supporting me and I want to especially thank Evangelist Melissa Garrett for your mentorship and friendship. Love you much. Thank you to all the conference speakers who selflessly sacrificed your time to serve all the women by using your “scalpels” to operate on us patients. All of you are truly an example of godly women and I look up to you. The Code Blue Conference was truly a “life-changing” conference that gave me a newfound confidence in God, and that’s priceless!
